Psychology Assessments in Melbourne
Neuroaffirming assessments for children, teens and adults. Thoughtful, comprehensive assessments that provide clarity, understanding and a path forward.
At Better Together Therapy, we provide comprehensive, neuroaffirming psychological assessments for children, teens and adults in our Essendon clinic and via telehealth where appropriate. Assessments can help individuals and families better understand learning, attention, emotions, neurodivergence, cognitive profiles and support needs. For many people, they provide clarity and a set of practical recommendations that can be applied at school, work, home and in daily life.
We know the assessment process can feel overwhelming. Our goal is to make it supportive, collaborative and clear from the very first conversation.
Why might someone seek an assessment?
People come to us for many different reasons. You might be looking for some support because:
school or learning feels harder than expected
attention, focus, or emotional regulation difficulties are impacting daily life
your child appears overwhelmed, anxious, or misunderstood
you have wondered about autism or ADHD
there are ongoing literacy, writing or maths difficulties
masking or burnout is becoming difficult to manage
a teacher, GP, paediatrician or allied health professional has recommended assessment
you are seeking accommodations or supports at school, university or work
you want to better understand yourself or your child
Assessments can help identify strengths, challenges, learning profiles and support needs while providing practical recommendations moving forward.

However, depending on the type of assessment and the reason it is being completed, supporting information from a GP, paediatrician, psychiatrist, school or allied health professional may be helpful. We can discuss this with you during intake and guide you on what may be useful to bring.

A neuroaffirming approach recognises neurodiversity as a natural variation in how people think, communicate, process information and experience the world.
